A new study conducted jointly by Union Sport&Cycle and the French Tennis Federation shows that the number of participants and ecosystem building in French plate tennis continues to grow significantly. The study was conducted with the participation of an online survey of 6000 players, combined with participation surveys from major private operators and FFT clubs. The 2025 edition of the 'Plate Tennis Observation Report' once again confirms the stable position of plate tennis in French sports habits.
The number of participants has significantly increased: currently, the number of participants in board tennis has reached 850000, an increase of 130% compared to the last baseline survey in 2022. In addition, there are already 4100 plate tennis courts in France, an increase of 1100 from 2024. This growth trend is mainly concentrated in the age group of 25 to 44, with participants in this age group accounting for 53%.
A social, flexible, and enjoyable sport, where playing ball with friends is the main motivation. Plate tennis meets people's expectations for a sport that is easy to participate in, friendly, and emphasizes instant fun: 62% of players said they started playing plate tennis because they followed their family or relatives. 85% of players mainly play with friends. Fun is the top motivation (69%), followed closely by sharing quality time with loved ones (61%).

This is an unconstrained sport that can quickly cultivate loyalty.
Plate tennis continues to attract people with its flexible mode: 80% of players mainly book courts on a per use basis. Among new participants (with less than two years of experience), 46% play basketball at least once a week. Clubs have become true social venues. The environment in which sports are conducted also adds points to their attractiveness: 82% of players expressed satisfaction with the friendly atmosphere of the club/center. 77% of players will spend time eating or drinking after a game. Plate tennis culture is rapidly emerging on social media, just like fitness or running, and the online culture of plate tennis is also constantly developing: 76% of players pay attention to content related to plate tennis. 56% of players frequently browse social media, especially attracted by international stars such as Tapia or Garland.
The French domestic plate tennis scene is also constantly developing, such as Jules Marie being mentioned by 7% of participants.
